Christmas In July

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol

Christmas in July came to Chicago this past weekend in the form of the Christmas Carol Train.  For anyone who hasn’t heard, Jim Carrey has a new movie coming out on November 6th.  You can see a teaser trailer here, but be warned it looks a bit scary for kids.

Life as Mom is doing Christmas in July posts this week that include giving away prizes!

Some stores have begun putting up Christmas decorations already, which seems a tad bit early…  Time has an appropriately named article: Kmart’s Christmas in July: Inspiration or Desperation Tom Barlow from Blogging Stocks also has an interesting post on Kmart’s early launch:

The campaign shows little thought or investment beyond a landing page and a few links to existing catalog items. Dare I suggest that this is typical Kmart, unimaginative and short-sighted? I haven’t even bought my Halloween costume and Thanksgiving turkey yet. Are they giving up on those holidays?

Will Kmart even be around in January to accept returns? With promotions like this, I have to wonder.

Merry Christmas in July!

Here’s another excellent Christams card tutorial for making Christmas cards with glitter.  Not only is it a great tutorial, but you can also find everything you need to make Christmas cards and crafts at the Scrap ‘n Stamp online store.  Making your own Christmas cards is a great way to get into spirit of Christmas, and they’ll mean a lot more than if you had purchased them already made in a store.

Santa’s Quarters “Knols”

Google has released a new platform similar to Wikipedia, called Knols.  We’ve put up a Knol for Santa’s Quarters and will be adding informative articles in the months to come.  Check out our Knol on artificial Christmas trees, and please leave us any comments or suggestions there or on this blog!

Getting Ready for Christmas

You can never get ready for Christmas too soon.  It seems there’s always so much to do and so little time to do it in…from decorations and gifts to cooking and cleaning.  Journeyer has a great post on getting organized for Christmas, with tips on decorating, gifts, cards, traveling, money, and traditions.  Check it out!

If you’re looking for commercial sized Christmas ornaments for this year, we’ve just added lots of new giant Christmas ornaments that range in size from 17 to 63 inches and large Christmas ornaments from 7 to 16 inches to our online offering.

Christmas in June, Sales, and Snowbabies

Flocked Christmas Tree

Well, we’ve got Christmas in July…what do you think about Christmas in June?  Krissy is recommending a Christmas in June party, or just “baking Christmas cookies and giving them to neighbors or taking them to a nursing home”.  I’ve also come across another blog post about a 6 months until Christmas sale at Kitchen Sink Stamps.  Christmas seems to be celebrated earlier and earlier each year.

Seriously though, sometimes it is better to get your Christmas shopping done early.  These handmade snowbabies are likely to sell out well before Christmas, as most of our Christmas decorations do every year.  One of our most popular flocked artificial Christmas trees, the North Pole, sells out every year we’ve had it by October.
