What is the difference between mini lights and wide angle lights?

What most people used to refer to as mini lights were technically incandescent Christmas lights with M5 bulbs. This was the most common bulb shape for light strings used on Christmas trees. When LED Christmas lights became more popular, the corresponding smaller bulbs typically used on Christmas trees were the LED wide angle light blubs. The wide angle lights produce a similar amount of light compared to the old incandescent M5 lights.

These days it is possible to get LED light strings with a great variety of different bulb types. The most common are still the wide angle lights, but they are also available with M5, C7, C9, and other specialty bulb shapes.

What is the difference between mini lights and C7 lights?

The bulb size of a mini light or LED wide angle light is substantially smaller than a C7 bulb. You can see images of our LED wide angle lights and C7 lights on our LED Christmas light strings page. The lights that are typically used on residential sized Christmas tress are mini lights, whereas the larger bulbs you may see used on the outside of a house, especially in years past, are more likely to be C7 lights.

What is the difference between C7 and C9 lights?

C7 light bulbs are smaller than C9 light bulbs, but the shape is about the same. A C7 bulb is just over 2 inches tall, while a C9 light bulb is just under 3 inches tall.
